A Common Thread..

August 7th - 31st : Spindleworks What Not Gallery

"A Common Thread" exhibit was created with the concept that humans have a common though essential need to love and to be loved! Red was chosen to symbolize love and compassion.

Many of the works were collaborations between the artists and their peers. At times they would help each other to create the final pieces. The tapestries are woven pieces from many hands and unified with hand spun and dyed yarn. Barbara Carter and Robin Albert were instrumental to sewing the woven pieces together and adding the "common thread."

The 16x20 inch canvasses, a generous donation by the Portland business "Muse," were painted with a large stroke of red. The artists were given freedom to use the line in their compositions with various mediums including a variety of papers and paint.
